DONATO NDONG, THE FIRST AFRICAN REPORTER ON “ANDALUCÍA DIRECTO”, BREAKS BARRIERS ON ANDALUSIAN PUBLIC TELEVISION

At 27 years of age, this young Equatoguinean born in Malabo makes his debut on the emblematic Canal Sur programme, marking a milestone in its almost 28-year history. With a degree in Journalism and previous experience in Equatorial Guinea’s public television, Donato has arrived at “Andalucía Directo” with an infectious energy and a story of self-improvement.

His first report took him to a golf course, and his second, to discover the tradition of the mantilla in Granada on the eve of Easter. Beyond his coverage, Donato represents a symbol of integration, diversity and talent.

Raised in a humble neighbourhood by a single mother, to whom he dedicates all his appreciation, Donato carries with him the spirit of his roots: ‘Wherever I am, my neighbourhood will always be with me’.

Although he shares a name with the famous writer Donato Ndongo-Bidyogo, they are not related, but he does consider him one of his great inspirations.

Today, Donato charts his own path, with humility, professionalism and a smile that is already part of the face of Andalusian television.
